About Us

The National Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (NOFAS) is an international public health advocacy organization founded in 1990 that works to prevent exposure to alcohol, drugs, and other substances known to harm prenatal development by raising awareness and supporting women before and during their pregnancy. NOFAS supports individuals, families, and communities living with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASDs), Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS), and other preventable intellectual/developmental disabilities.

NOFAS develops and disseminates public health messages, educates students, trains professionals, conducts media outreach, administers partner networks, and supports individuals and families living with addiction and developmental disabilities.
