About Us

Founded in 1991, the Campus Food Bank Society (“CFB”) is a provincially incorporated society and federally registered charity that provides support to individuals facing food insecurity at the University of Alberta. We are a confidential, not-for-profit organization that provides food hampers to members of our campus community in need, including students, staff, faculty, alumni, and their dependents.

We focus on poverty reduction, advocacy, and referrals to support our clients. The support and funding from our many generous donors allow us to continue on our mission of eliminating hunger on campus with full independence. With an annual budget of over $100,000, our organization is sustained by a devoted and diverse group of over 100 volunteers, 2-4 staff members, and between 7 and 12 Directors on the Board.

We are the oldest campus-based food bank in the country, and we exist to ensure that our campus community has access to healthy food as a right, not as a privilege. We believe in community, integrity, accessibility, empathy and confidentiality.
