Arthritis Foundation - Alaska Office
In most situations being #1 is a reason to celebrate. However, when it comes to arthritis - the #1 cause of disability in the nation – no one is celebrating. Over 50 million Americans, 1 in 5 adults have arthritis, and nearly 300,000 children, age 16 and younger live with arthritis. Arthritis affects people of all ages, races and socioeconomic backgrounds. In Alaska alone, over 116,000 children and adults live with arthritis and face the daily challenges of limited mobility, diminishing independence and economic burdens. The mission of the Arthritis Foundation is to improve lives through the leadership in the preventions, control, and cure of arthritis and related diseases.
