Chords For Progression

Oakland, CA

About Us

This project targets high school Students with Limited or Interrupted Formal Education, starting at Castlemont High School in Oakland. These teens have undergone a traumatic and arduous journey to the US. They are very eager to learn, but only have until age 21 to become literate, close enormous learning gaps, and assimilate to the formal learning process, all while trying to overcome trauma. Therefore, by merging mutually-beneficial concepts of math and musicianship, Chords For Progression is an after-school program that will help these teens catch up from base-ten to basic algebra, while simultaneously accelerating their English learning and giving their minds stress relief via musicianship.
