Tomas O’Grady is the Executive Director of EnrichLA, the largest public school garden nonprofit in the country. EnrichLA has built over 60 school gardens in the City of Los Angeles in roughly 3 years and provides a garden-based educational curriculum for students to learn about nutrition and environmental advocacy. Tomas has always taken the forefront position on environmental, sustainability, and livability issues in LA.
In 2011, Tomas ran for the City Council seat in Council District 4, and despite being a political newcomer at the time, he was endorsed by the LA Times and received 31 percent of the vote. He ran an innovative, grassroots campaign, mobilizing and energizing stakeholders to make a positive change in their community. His campaign was outspent 5 to 1 by his competitors.
Now, Tomas is rerunning for City Council District 4 in the March 2015 election. This new campaign is truly a grassroots movement starting from the ground up. Join the campaign if you are interested in being active in the decision making regarding campaign strategies.
The O’Grady Campaign is looking for leaders and volunteers who are willing to learn and use their creative energy and ideas to run a successful campaign. This is a nonpartisan, organized, grassroots campaign which models itself after the successful Organizing for America campaign with experienced staff from that campaign. Whether you are a student interested in learning the ins and outs of a political campaign, or if you are looking to raise your level of commitment to your community, we invite you to apply.
