Beanstalk grows resilient people. We are an Alabama-based nonprofit helping individuals, families, and communities build practical life skills, emergency preparedness, and self-reliance — so they can thrive no matter what comes their way.

Beanstalk was born from a simple belief: that every person deserves the knowledge and skills to take care of themselves, their family, and their neighbors.

We serve individuals and families across the Birmingham metro area and Jefferson County — with a focus on reaching communities that have historically had the least access to preparedness resources, outdoor education, and hands-on skill-building.

Through community events, workshops, challenge competitions, and partnerships, we bring real-world skills directly to the people who need them most — for free.

Our programs cover emergency preparedness, first aid and CPR, fire building and outdoor survival, navigation, container gardening, solar and off-grid energy, fishing, sewing and clothing repair, wellness, and workforce development.

We believe resilience isn't something you're born with, it's something you build, together. Beanstalk is where that building begins.

Who We Serve: Children, youth, adults, seniors, and families of all backgrounds — with particular focus on under-resourced communities in Central Alabama.
