  • Mission

    The mission of the Freeman Army Air Field Museum is to educate the public about and preserve the history of Freeman Army Air Field as a military training facility and foreign aircraft evaluation center. We preserve and honor the memory of the World War II veterans who trained and served here, as well as the civilians who helped the base function during and shortly after the war.

    About Us

    • Purpose: To preserve, protect and display artifacts and history of the WW-II training history of Freeman Field.
    • History
      1. Founded 1995 by Ted Jordan and some other dedicated citizens
      2. Began with about ½ of one 3000 sq. ft. building, or 1500 sq. ft.
      3. Now consists of two 3000 sq. ft. buildings
    • Things that need to get done include:
      1. Build and/or oversee construction of structures to position/support aircraft parts
      2. Use website(s) to identify WWII aircraft parts we have in storage
      3. Repair, organize & display airplane models
      4. Grounds keeping; trim bushes, spray weeds (the airport mows the grass)
      5. Vacuum, dust, clean glass cases, etc.
      6. Flight simulator operators (pilot certificate preferred)
      7. Membership database upkeep
      8. Docent; conduct museum tours
    • Qualifications of volunteers (one or more)
      1. The #1 qualification is to have a few hours a month available to help
      2. Computer literate - data entry, etc.
      3. Work with tools, like build wood and/or metal display fixtures
