About Us

YOVI was founded by young people who showed concern about the plight of the rural population in the Northern Region of Ghana; especially the conditions of many women and children. They pledged their commitment to work together to improve the prospects and opportunities of these vulnerable groups.

YOVI is a registered Youth development Non-profit, Nonpolitical, Non-ethnic NGO that exists to help empower youth, women and children and other vulnerable groups to contribute meaningfully towards national development and prosperity. Members of YOVI in forming the organization, recognized the fact that women and children are the most vulnerable groups in society and need a little push in order to realize their dreams and aspirations. With solid backgrounds and experience in working with children, YOVI developed educational programmes to help unlock new opportunities and develop their full potential.

To enhance operational synergy and foster partnership for innovation and best practices, the organisation work with a number of Coalitions/Networks at National, Regional and Global levels including the ACCESS Coalition, Girls Not Brides Ghana (GNB Ghana), Global Network on Disaster Reduction (GNDR), Sustainable Development Goals 13 (SDG 13), SDG 2, West Africa Child Rights Coalition (WACRC), Child Protection Alliance Ghana (CPA Ghana) and the Civil Society Organisations Forum (CSO Forum) of the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACERWC).
