About Us

Gateway to Peace Museum is a non-for-profit organization that has been operating free of charge in our community since 2001 as an educational museum teaching peacemaking skills to children in kindergarten through fifth grade. We aim to promote peaceful conflict resolution and nonviolence in our community using a child- and family-focused approach. We believe in enriching the lives of children through the pursuit of peace for all.

GPM brings its engaging and interactive activities – including puzzles, crafts, games, puppetry, weaving and more - to schools, camps, faith-based organizations and other community organizations throughout Missouri and Illinois. Each activity focuses on one of four topics that we believe are essential to building a peaceful world – Peace for Me (self-esteem and emotional skills), Peace for Us (cooperation and communication), Peace for Everyone (tolerance and diversity) and Peace for the Planet (environmental stewardship).

In 2009 alone, GPM shared its services with nearly 6,800 children in 16 schools and community organizations and partnered with The St. Louis Science Center, The Cooperating School Districts, and numerous community groups. This year, with the help of dedicated volunteers, we hope to reach an even greater number of children and adults in our community.
