About Us

The MVT CID is a private, 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization established in 2004 to enhance the overall quality of life for residents, employees and visitors, and to increase commercial opportunities for business and property owners, in the Mount Vernon Triangle neighborhood of downtown Washington, DC. It is funded by a supplemental real property tax on both residential and commercial properties. Since its inception close to 15 years ago, the MVT CID is considered one of Washington DC’s best examples of a thoughtfully planned, carefully coordinated mixed-use community. The MVT CID is at the heart of the city—both geographically and culturally—and is a welcoming, authentic and centered neighborhood that mirrors the District’s unique mix of historic and modern buildings, longtime and new residents, and diverse cultures, restaurants and experiences. A member of the DC BID Council (www.dcbidcouncil.org) and DC Sustainable Transportation, the MVT CID is one of Washington, DC’s 11 Business Improvement Districts that sits at the intersection of the public and private sectors and strives to serve as an effective catalyst for growth and improvement on behalf of our stakeholders. We are steadfast in both our clean and safe mission as well as our aspiration to be the next great "destination of choice" for anyone who chooses to live, work, do business and entertain in the District of Columbia.
