About Us

Current Mission Statement: (Adopted 7/1999) The Tenderloin AIDS Resource Center is a non-profit community-based organization that respects and meets the needs of the diverse and often ignored residents of San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood. Through non-judgmental outreach, education, testing, client advocacy and practical, direct services, TARC aims to lessen the incidence of HIV infection, disease progression and homelessness using harm reduction philosophy and practice.

Changed (6/19/1997) Mission Statement: The Tenderloin AIDS Resource Center (TARC) is a non-profit social service and referral agency organized to meet the needs of the diverse and often ignored residents of the Tenderloin neighborhood. Guided by the philosophy of harm reduction, and utilizing education, prevention, care, advocacy and referral, TARC aims to lessen the incidence of HIV and help keep those infected alive for the cure.

Original Mission Statement: “The Tenderloin AIDS Resource Center (TARC) is a non-profit service and referral agency designed to meet the needs of the marginalized Tenderloin population. Through education, prevention, counseling and referral, TARC aims to lessen the incidence of HIV infection and keep people alive for the cure”
