We see teachers as the gatekeepers of the system. Any changes made to the system – curriculum, technology, infrastructure – will have an impact only if let in through this gate. We also understand that they need support from the immediate ecosystem. That is why we work towards inspiring, engaging and empowering our rural schoolteachers and other stakeholders who impact them.
Research studies on teacher effectiveness suggest that student taught by high-performing teachers will progress three times as fast as those taught by low-performing teachers (Barber & Mourshed, 2007). It is of paramount importance that we create opportunities for all our teachers to perform at high levels.
