Who are we and what do we do?
Supporting Guasa is a not for profit association registered in Sweden which works in the Dominican Republic. Working from Sweden, the United Kingdom and in the Dominican Republic our primary goal is to promote development in the village of Ramón Santana in the province of San Pedro de Macorís.
We are a new organisation and have completed one English teaching project and are seeking to repeat this project this year as well as begin a literacy project. This year we will start an advocacy project aimed at empowering young women. As the organisation grows and develops, so will our projects. However, our ultimate aim is to make sure there is no need for us anymore...
However, for the present unfortunately this is not the case. Our activities are aimed at promoting development for children, young people and adults in the community of Ramón Santana. We also work in the predominantly Haitian migrant communities (bateyes) that are part of the wider municipality of Ramon Santana.
We aim to create projects that are sustainable, transparent and economical. We are a small organisation with realistic concrete aims and we believe the money donated by our supporters should go as far as possible.
We do not pay any wages, all work by our members, whatever their role, is based on voluntary contributions in Sweden, England and the Dominican Republic. All funds go directly to making the projects work.
