Niñas Sin Miedo

WHO ARE WE?

Niñas Sin Miedo is a nonprofit organization that works with girls and young women in the community of Soacha, an impoverished municipality on the outskirts of Bogotá.

MISSION

To prevent sexual violence and teenage pregnancy in vulnerable communities in Colombia. We serve to empower girls and young women such that they may exercise their individual rights, reach their individual potential, and become leaders in their communities.

We work to educate and inspire girls and young women by developing their leadership potential and knowledge of their rights. 

HOW DO WE DO IT?

Our organization has two main tools that we employ to achieve our mission: cycling and community workshops. Niñas Sin Miedo uses the empowering sport of cycling as a tool to awaken the girls to their own potential. For girls who don't know how to ride a bike...we teach them! And for those who do, we take them on bike-rides around their neighbourhood. The experience of riding a bike allows the girls to: discover their capacity to learn something new, be in control, feel good about themselves, get some exercise, support their peers, and more. 

We also provide weekly workshops, which offer a safe space for the girls to learn about and discuss themes related to sexual education, gender, individual rights, and healthy decision making.
