Operational Emergency Center
OEC’s mission is “to help solve temporary crisis and facilitate long term stability while fostering self reliance for King County families and individuals who are at risk.” OEC is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit health and human services organization established in 1971, in response to massive Boeing layoffs resulting in an increased need for social services in the community. Over the years, OEC programs have expanded. Today, OEC programs include the largest food bank in King County, a clothing bank, health education, infant mortality and prevention, birth – 5, information and referral, a homebound program of food delivery to seniors and those disabled, the holiday gift shop and adopt-a-family program, community volunteering and basic food education and outreach including benefit enrollment.
