About Us

Welcome to Judea Reform!

We welcome you. Our members sincerely hope that within the walls of our synagogue you will find Jewish traditions, moral values, authentic learning and inspiration for youth and adults. We are committed to the practice of tikkun olam — working to heal the world for the Jewish people and for all humanity.

Judea Reform was formed in 1961, when a handful of Jewish families came together to start a Reform congregation for Durham, Chapel Hill and the surrounding areas. Almost sixty years later, Judea Reform has become the largest Reform congregation in the Triangle. We pride ourselves on being a warm, welcoming, and inclusive congregation.

We invite you to learn more about our community. Join us for a Friday night service, a holiday celebration, a life-cycle event or just drop by the temple to meet Rabbi Bach and the staff. Feel free to call us to talk about membership at (919) 489-7062. Check our calendar to see what's happening when. Come pray with us, have a nosh at the oneg, and introduce yourself—we look forward to meeting you!
