Our Mission: The Oakland Public Library informs, inspires and delights our diverse community as a resource for information, knowledge, and artistic and literary expression, providing the best in traditional services, new technologies and innovative programs.
PASS--Partners for Achieving School Success is a Library program that: Provides quality after school homework help for children and youth. Encourages Library use and provides more Library instruction, emphasizing literacy. Develops students' capacities as independent learners. Reaches out to families and the larger community as an extension of Library services. Has the flexibility to vary between sites and respond to local community needs. Has a well-trained, well-supported staff with clearly defined roles Provides an opportunity for youth development (building academic, employment, and interpersonal skills) for teen mentors and PASS! participants.
We are looking for a summer intern with professional or academic experience as an educator to help develop curriculum for 2003-2004.
We are looking for homework mentors for 2003-2004, September through June.
