Hearts Without Boundaries
In the last three years, HWB has sponsored three successful life-saving open-heart surgeries in the United States and Dominican Republic for a 9 year-old girl, an 11-month-old boy and a 3-year-old girl. All three children now live normal, healthy lives back in their remote villages in Cambodia. Their journeys to find medical care halfway around the world have touched so many hearts, and have also been chronicled in many newspapers and television broadcasts around the globe.
In the last four heart surgery missions at Angkor Hospital for Children in Siem Reap, HWB assisted the cardiac teams from UCSD/Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin to perform 100 heart surgeries on children suffering from patent ductus arterious and B/T-shunts of tetralogy of Fallot.
