About Us

IFS Nepal Children Welfare Program (your kind co-operation and little help will given them big hope, happiness and bright future.) IFS Nepal was officially registered with the government and affiliated with social welfare council as non profit social welfare organization to care for orphans , abandoned, poorest ,under privileged , needy and helpless children of Nepal.

IFS Nepal Children Welfare Program’s Introduction

IFS Nepal is non profitable and charitable social worker organization registered with His Majesty’s Government of Nepal with the affiliation number 886/055/56.IFS Nepal was established in 1999 with the view of volunteerism. IFS Nepal Children Welfare Program(IFS Nepal CWP) is branch program of IFS Nepal. It is started the view of providing the Children good care ,support, education and vocational training in homely environment under it’s guardianship. It does not receive any financial support from the government of Nepal and it does not Affiliated with any political organization . financially it depends upon private donation, individual sponsorship and assistance from NGO and INGO’s.

The main objective of IFS Nepal CWP · To provide the love ,care , support ,food ,housing to the orphan children under care in a secure and nurturing family environment. · To provide the children adequate medical care and other necessary facilities to the children. · To provide scholarship to the poor, under privileged and needy children of Nepal · To ensure that children receive a quality education. · To provide elementary education to under privileged children . · To make them sure become able to combat with the time related situation after uplifted by the modern pedagogical advancement.

Future plans of IFS Nepal CWP · To provide help for very poor, socially oppressed and orphans in education and other activities in order to make them self relined. · To provide the children vocational and various types of job skill training so that they became productive and self –supporting members of society as adults. · We would like to build own build own building, own school from nursery to class five (first phase) with in bound of home self. · Computer for children to give training . · Own buss transportation. · To provide help to all those children who will be in search of their livelihood in the street of cities and who are socially boy-cotted abandoned by their parents and have no alternative of living. IFS Nepal CWP will accept your contribution in the following.

· Individual sponsor for children. · Donation for other necessary expenses · Toys for children · Educational materials such as books , stationery etc. · First -aid , medicine such as band –aid ointment for wounds, burn and cut. · Sponsor for monthly budget. · Donation for land and building and bus . · Donation for computer training, Vocational training . · Sponsor for yearly budget . · Donation for clothes, shoes etc.

IFSNEPAL Volunteers offers both short term and long term volunteer placement in the areas of -English Teaching -Work at Orphanage -Work at health -Conservation works Besides the above areas, it is possible to arrange other placements depending on the interest and demand of volunteers. IFSNEPAL offers most of it’s volunteer work in collaboration with local partners. Our local partners work in diverse areas of community development and conservation. In order to promote conservation work in Nepal, IFSNEPAL Volunteers has been developing a multipurpose tree nursery at Chitwan valley. Short Term IFSNEPAL Volunteer Program Duration: 1 - 3 weeks In this program, we arrange volunteer programs in the areas of education, social welfare, eco/environmental and community development projects. The working period generally ranges from two week to four weeks. For this program, we welcome volunteers of any age. This program is designed to fill the request of partner organizations or individuals.

Long TermIFSNEPAL Volunteer Program Duration: 3 weeks - 5 months The long term volunteer program is designed for volunteers who are interested in staying in Nepal for longer periods. It is the most popular program of Himalayan Volunteers among the international students. Under this program, volunteers can change their project one time.

Orphanages Most of the activities in orphanages focuses on educational training. IFSNEPAL Volunteers feel that education is the root of any meaningful service, and can enable children to challenge a life of further poverty and exploitation. An important component of the education you will provide the children will be classes in the English language. Besides teaching, orphanages operate several creative programs. They welcome your active participation in all areas of operation. Volunteers can participate in health education, games, drawing and painting. With such a variety, the orphanage allows and encourages volunteers to explore a meaningful approach to service. Every year, hundreds of children leave their poor villages and arrive in small and big cities, in search of work. Most of these children are deprived of educational and other opportunities. After coming to cities, most of them work as child laborers in restaurants, hotels, and factories. Conservation During your volunteering, you will participate in conservation programs by working on the nursery, plantation or common land of farmersEfields. Your activities include sowing, mulching, watering, weeding, and farming. Local villagers or volunteers also work with international volunteers. Health Any volunteer interested in joining health programs must have certificates or proof like ID as a medical student, nurse, doctor or certificate of experience. Volunteers without professional knowledge are not allowed to work in this program because of risk. Volunteers mostly help local doctors and medical staff in treatment of patients. Volunteers can join other programs of the hospital like record keeping, sanitation, nutrition, or treatment of minor injuries. Teaching Most of the time, volunteers in the teaching sector work as a teacher for small school children. Volunteers are welcome to work on other activities of school like games, painting, sanitation programs, etc. A volunteer teaches 2-3 hours a day for six days a week. The age of the children ranges from 6-13 years. Teaching placement is available in both public and private boarding school. Teaching placement is not available in July and August in any area outside of Kathmandu Valley because of summer vacation. IFSNEPAL volunteers can arrange teaching placement in the nearby villages of Kathmandu Valley in these months. Most of the schools in Nepal follow fixed English courses for English teaching. Volunteers will teach school courses in collaboration with local English teachers. Volunteers are welcome to bring some teaching aids like coloring books, drawing sheets etc. for the children. Many of our past volunteers organized informal English classes in local villages. Accommodations Volunteers will be staying with a host family near their project. A separate room will be provided throughout the volunteering period, wherever possible. The host family offers Nepali food (three meals a day) which includes rice, lentil soup, vegetable curry, meats (occasionally) and pickles. Notice IFSNEPAL Volunteers recommends the two week language and culture program for volunteers. It will give them a good start in exploring the issues of Nepal. Many times, language difficulties hinder the effectiveness of volunteers. Furthermore, it is possible to manage extra tutorials with experts of particular areas with additional fees. IFSNEPAL Volunteers suggests the volunteer correspond with us if they have special needs for their volunteership.

Note: IFSNEPAL volunteers offers many placements in collaboration with local partners. Therefore, the nature of the job may be slightly different than what is written here. Please make sure about your project, job, and host family before your departure. Our secretary will answer all of these questions.

Internship Program IFSNEPAL Volunteers organizes the internship program to international students in the areas of orphanages, sustainable agriculture & conservation, English teaching, and health human rights . IFSNEPAL Volunteers can offer internship in any areas related to Nepal in collaboration with our local partners who work in the different areas. It includes internship in culture, religion, women's studies, anthropology, ecology of Nepal etc. Please communicate with our national coordinator if you have any special areas of interest.

Under the internship program, the intern engages in the daily activities of project. In most of the cases, interns develop a report paper in a particular area of interest by working closely with the project staffs. Generally, the director of the project serves as a supervisor for the intern.

International Friendship Society (IFS)

IFS Nepal is a multi purpose non-governmental organization (NGO) which was started in 1999. This organization has been using several volunteers of its own since its establishment to construct a friendship society through global brotherhood exchanging knowledge and skills. The objective of IFS Nepal is to exchange volunteers on the national and international level to build harmony with the world's various countries volunteer institutions and to use them (volunteers) to uplift the life standard of the people.

This organization works to increase the brotherhood and friendship in the society. This organization will play a co-operative role to abolish the poverty using the volunteers. It will work to enhance the development and self reliance of the local community by building relationships with related organizations and volunteers.
