About Us

Hola! The Jungle Garden is a private pre-K play group established for families in Playa Venao, Panamá. Our Mission is to provide a safe, healthy, and family-like environment, a home away from home, with natural light and natural sounds for the children to socialize, become lifelong learners, learn self-motivation, gain confidence, celebrate uniqueness, and obtain independence, allowing their spirit to develop with a passion for learning. We guide our children to achieve their own potential by stimulating the mind and body through music, art, movement and practical life skills. Our doors are open Monday through Thursday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Where: We are located in a beautiful, secluded cabaña in the nook of the Escoba river on the Eco Venao Surf Hostel premises, Los santos, Playa Venao, Panamá.

Who: We are looking for an experienced teacher to lead the school day by following a planned calender of activities, as well as, to help to develop the educational programs. This position is a 3-month internship and is a great opportunity for current education majors or graduates. This is the perfect start for those who are in need of teaching experience. Interns must be self-motivated and enthusiastic about teaching in a jungle environment. This is an adventurous internship in a developing country directly across from a world class surfing beach break. Monkeys regularly visit the play group premises. Interns need to be able to maintain a positive attitude and balance their time with the playgroup and personal life. After completion of a 3-month contract, interns are eligible to receive a Letter of Recommendation for future jobs.

Responsibilities:

To effectively develop and prepare monthly lesson plans that include music, art, physical activities, gardening, field trips, and fund raisers for ages 1 to 4.

To teach daily classes (4 days per week/4-5 hours per day) in a challenging environment.

To work closely with the administrators of the play group, assitant teachers and visiting volunteers.

Take Photos of Activities and Events

Create write-up of activities and fun facts about the children to be published in a quarterly newsletter.

CPR and First-Aid Certified.

Be available to set a booth or table at Community Gatherings and Markets to distribute information about Jungle Garden.

Costs - Interns are responsible to pay internship fees of $800 per month. The fees cover the following:

Pre trip preparation and orientation with Jungle Garden Administrators

In-country support

Airport pick up from Pedasí

Orientation of the Playa Venao area

Accommodations in a dorm-type room with kitchen access

Occassional transportation to Pedasí for food

Use of a surf board

One meal a day, even on non-work days

Monthly massage

Yoga Classes

The following are not covered:

Out on the town expenses

Laundry

Horseback Rides

Surf Lessons

Flights to Panama City and Pedasí
