    To restore, preserve, and protect the 18th- and 19th- centuries old Metcalf-Franklin Homestead and its agricultural heritage through charitable, educational, and community engagement-related activities.

    About Us

    The Historic Metcalf-Franklin Farm was the last working complete dairy farm in Cumberland, RI. Its agriculture and architecture demonstrate the developmental history from the early 1800s to the early 2000s.The Town of Cumberland purchased the intact 65 acres farm. Since its purchase, Franklin Farm’s mission is to Preserve and Protect the farm for future generations.

    Grant Writers/ Historic Preservationists Wanted We are seeking those who have expertise and experience in historic preservation through conservation. From the 1810 barn to the miles of farm walls, the ongoing efforts are focused on the future through preserving the past.Become a part of our Association or join in our Building or Grounds Committee for specific projects.

    The Community Garden-During the summer, our acre garden grows vegetables for the RI Community Food Bank & local food pantries.Volunteering involves a variety of activities including tending, picking, and boxing of farm fresh, naturally grown vegetables.We have two ways to volunteer in the garden.

    A Day of Giving Bring Your Corporate/ Community Group to the garden for a day of team building that makes a difference.

    Volunteer Nights- Monday & Thursday Nights All ages are welcome and no experience is necessary.
