Chihuahuan Desert Nature Park
The Chihuahuan Desert Nature Park is dedicated to increasing scientific literacy by fostering an understanding of the Chihuahuan Desert. To achieve this mission, we provide inquiry-based, science education programs to more than 12,000 K-12 students and 3,000 adults in southern New Mexico and West Texas each year. The Nature Park site is 960 acres north of Las Cruces, New Mexico. It currently features a science demonstration site, picnic areas, 150-seat amphitheater, 1.5-mile walking trail with plant identification signs and benches, Desert Discovery Mini-Trail with interpretive signs, and a Xeriscape Memorial Garden. Future plans for this site include other visitor facilities.
