FARAJA ORPHANS AND TRAINING CENTRE-FOTC
Faraja is a non-profit,non-governmental organization dealing with HIV/AIDS and its related issues.Registered under strustees ordinance (cap 375) dated 27th march 1998 specifically tailored to empower Orphans and Vulnerable Children,People Living with HIV/AIDS and community in struggle against HIV/AIDS.
Faraja was organized and established in april 1997 by Mwendapole village community members,it was established due to the rapid increase of HIV/AIDs,increased number of Orphans and Vulnerable Children and People Living with HIV/AIDS in the district, Members of Mwendapole village area saw that it is important to start an organisation which will empower Orphans and Vulnerable Children,People Living with HIV/AIDS and the Community.
Faraja was established to help Orphans and Vulnerable Children,People Living with HIV/AIDS who lack basic needs that are necessary for their development.These people lack access to education nutritious food,proper health care ,adequate shelter,psychological support,information and love.
Most children who have lost their parents are taken care by caregivers who financially are not in a position to support these children and the sick.It causes increased hardship for the family and increasing poverty which lead to lack of education,malnutrition,prostitution and new HIV/AIDs infections.
Faraja was also formed to empower family structure in community which without it due to culture contribute to increased levels of infections,early dropout from schools,teenage pregnancies and unprotected sex.FOTC serves through both training and services.
