Baan Unrak is a home and community deveopement project in Sangklaburi, Thailand. This "Home of Joy" opened in 1991, by the Neo-Humanist Foundation, in an effort to protect the growing number of orphans and endangered children in the area. The project started with two children and has since grown to take care of more than 130 ranging from infants to 19 years old. Baan Unrak's main objective is to help women and children in need. The surrounding area suffers from instability as families are destroyed by disease, poverty and cultural changes. Many destitute women cannot support their children and try to sell or give them away. Baan Unrak offers a place for those in need.
