About Us

Massachusetts Community Water Watch was formed because over 50% of the state's rivers, lakes and streams, especially in urban areas, are too polluted for drinking, fishing and swimming! MCWW is a joint project of the MASSPIRG Education Fund and the MA Service Alliance. We enlist 16 Americorps organizers based on college campuses in 10 urban areas across MA to have a direct impact on local water problems. Organizers involve thousands of college students and community members in local environmental community service efforts such as: stream monitoring, community clean ups, environmental education in K - 12 schools, and forums with elected officials.
