History: The foundation's founder, Edison Calvopiña, used to be one of these kids caught in the cycle of poverty, helping his family survive by selling candy in the streets and stealing people's wallets. He was fortunate to have good influences in his life that encouraged him to stay in high school when he never thought he would graduate. He went on to graduate from university and become a pilot in the military. He had a successful career yet always knew there was something more to life. Thus, he left his career and started the youth foundation in the same area that he grew up in.
We provide the youth formal education, psychological support, and nutrition, as well as help with life skills and reintegration into society. Our instructors provide classes and programs throughout the day, and we love having volunteers to assist our instructors and come up with new ideas and programs!
Volunteer Objectives:
-Organize and lead different activities and/or courses that generate both an educational and caring atmosphere
-Create a strategy to engage kids with a fixed schedule in a manner that is enjoyable for them
-Build a positive strategy towards self-improvement
-Help them identify life opportunities and lifestyle changes
-Assist instructors in programs, classes, and day-to-day activities
The most important quality we look for in our volunteers is a sincere passion for working with and inspiring youth.
