  • About Us

    Keilah Community Childcare Uganda (KCCU) is registered Not for profit Non-government organization Working to empower Orphans, the needy and other vulnerable, through Education, Support the Youths and women through self-help skills training to raise house -hold income for the young people to become responsible and be self-reliant. We believe that continued action can make a difference in the community and that collective action can greatly impact the world. We Provide accessible and affordable education services, accessible Medical services, Increase access to sexual and Reproductive Health services to the communities for improvement of livelihood. From the above the organization has got three thematic areas of Education, Health and wellness and Youth and women Empowerment. KCCU was founded and established in 2018 by Mr Peter Kiabi who through his life up bringing as an orphan, had made his education not a forth coming dream had it not been the support of various people. Peter was compassionate of helping the vulnerable even when he did not have a lot. He believes that “Giving is Sharing” and by so doing, you help someone realize their dream that would have been aborted before maturity. He noticed the growing number of vulnerable children being orphaned due to HIV pandemic, Children infected with HIV, needy and also the increased number of Teenage mothers who had given birth at early ages of 14 years. The high level of Girl child school dropout due to lack of school fees, dangerous traditions and cultural practices that exposed them to dangers of child labor, heavy domestic work, sexual abuse, teenage pregnancies, forced marriages, early marriages 

    KCCU was later officially registered in 2019 as a community-based organization by Mukono Municipal community Development authority in Mukono District and currently Registered as NGO by URSB and National NGO Bureau under Ministry of Internal Affairs.

    Target groups

    KCCU basically works mainly for the poorest of the poor in the rural areas of the Mmukono, Wakiso, Kayunga Bwikwe, Jinja Kamuli And Mayuge. Its target groups include the Orphan, Needy, Other Vulnerable Children, Youths and women, and children in the rural communities of this region are still living in miserable conditions and deprived of very basic necessities of life. Major Thematic Areas/Activities KCCU was registered with a mandate of demonstrating compassion and restoring hope to the Orphans, the needy, other vulnerable, through Education, Support the Youths and women through self-help skills training raise house -hold income and capacity building for the young people to become responsible and be self-reliant. We Provide accessible and affordable education services, accessible Medical services, Increase access to sexual and Reproductive Health services to the youth, hence improvement of livelihood. From the above the organization has got three thematic areas;  

    1.Education 2. Healthcare and wellbeing 3. Youth Skilling and Empowerment

    Education

    This is a cross-cutting activity in all the programmes of KCCU. It is an integrated activity. Under this program KCCU Works to empower orphaned, Needy and Vulnerable Children With education. We also protect children against all forms abuse and protection of their rights. Here we carry out the following activities Child Education Support (Give A hand Project) ✓ KCCU is supporting 30 children who are vulnerable, by providing them with school fees, scholastic material, clothing and medical. ✓ Promote girl child Education. It is our mandate and other community stakeholders to mitigate such occurrences hence preserve the dignity of girl child ✓ Carry out periodic home visits to ensure general health, safety of the child under the program ✓ Provision of sustainable and profitable means of livelihoods, training of Income Generating Activities and financial management to the supported families. Child Protection 

    protect and ensure proper child development, ✓ Child rights education and protection awareness at different levels and different stakeholders. ✓ Children self-esteem building programs. ✓ Development of safe learning places for children at schools, hospitals, and community centers.

    Healthcare and wellbeing

    Under this program We work in partnership with different health focused organizations to support the indigent and vulnerable with affordable access to healthcare. Through this, we promote Sexual and Reproductive Health services (SRHS), Family Planning Services, Voluntary testing, guidance and counseling for HIV/AIDS. Under this are currently implementing the following Activity. 

    Medical care services •

    Establishment of community health centers in hard to reach areas to offer quality and accessible health services to the beneficiaries and the community. We go as far as creating awareness campaigns for HIV prevention, reproductive health; life skills-based education and sexual rights. Medical Camps in hard to reach communities, implement expanded programs of immunization in collaboration wit the government immunization. • Enhance Behavioral Change Communication (BCC), awareness and sensitization, guidance and counseling, HIV/AIDS Counseling and Testing. Nutrition ✓ Under this activity we support the HIV+ children, Malnourished children enrolled on the program and their siblings with food supplements. ✓ Nutritional education. In these we encourage caregivers to grow vegetables in sucks, old tis in order

    Youth and Women Empowerment.

    This program aims at imparting and empowering Youth and With Nonformal and formal skills, self-help skills and Entrepreneur skills in the operational area. Two types of activities are undertaken in this here:

    Skills Training; Under this we empower Youths, and teenage mothers with Formal and Non formal skills in tailoring, Crafts making like shoes, Necklaces, craft bags among others. This in returns raises hands on skills hence creativity and innovativeness that leads to self-employment hence economic empowerment Entrepreneur Skills empowerment. Focuses on enhancing women income generation skills through capacity building and micro savings and credit. Under this program following sub activity takes place ➢ Formation of local women groups and their capacity building ➢ Share life experiences and encourage one another to have positive attitude towards life
