We are committed to bridging educational gaps, fostering curiosity, and creating opportunities that reflect the diverse communities we serve.

    About Us

    The Youth Sports Science Institute (YSSI) bridges the worlds of STEM education and sports to inspire and empower young minds. Founded by Noma Shields, YSSI aims to provide equitable opportunities for youth, particularly in underrepresented communities, to explore careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

    Through programs like Sports Analytics, Virtual and Augmented Reality in Sports, and community workshops, YSSI engages students in hands-on learning experiences that integrate athletic performance with STEM principles. Our mission is to spark curiosity, build critical skills, and create pathways to success for the next generation of innovators.

    Key Achievements:

    • Impacted over 500 students through partnerships with schools, libraries, and community organizations.
    • Delivered engaging STEM programming at high-profile events such as Chicago Public Schools' Reimagining STEM initiatives.
    • Introduced participants to innovative tools like wearable technology and sports data analytics.
