About Us

Keshev - The Center for the Protection of Democracy in Israel was founded in1998 in the aftermath of the assassination of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin by Israeli citizens who shared a deep concern about the deterioration of the public discourse inIsrael and its repercussions for Israeli democracy. Keshev promotes a more moderate and fair media and public discourse through educational activities, meetings with news editors and meticulous research of Israeli media coverage that raises public awareness of problems in the discourse. Keshev uses a unique methodology and innovative alternative editing tools for its research. The president of Keshev is the renowned Israeli author David Grossman. The board chair is former Ha'aretz journalist Danny Rubinstein and the executive director is Yizhar Be’er.
