About Us

IBU (which means mother) is a self- and donor-funded, spontaneously-founded team of volunteer Indonesian doctors, paramedics, psychologists, engineers and support personnel who responded to the emergency situation after Earthquake and Tsunami in 26 December 2006 in Aceh and Nias. Starting to operate since 1st January 2005, in total of 115 volunteers have contributed their time and effort at that time. In June 3rd 2005, IBU has been established as a fully fledged national NGO which is registered as a foundation.

Mission Statement: • IBU is a voluntary based organization working to introduce young and dedicated persons to help others in need. • IBU working through its programs to help vulnerable people who are mother and children from any disadvantaged situation. • IBU working directly with the community and all stakeholders through facilitation and assistance in order to make them realize about their role and competencies.
