Project Achieve

About Us

The goal of Project Achieve is to find ways to prevent HIV infection.

Project Achieve, established in 1993, is part of the New York Blood Center’s Laboratory of Infectious Disease Prevention and is under the leadership of Beryl Koblin, PhD.

Initially, our study sites in Manhattan and the Bronx participated in HIV vaccine preparedness studies that paved the way for current HIV vaccine trials. Since then we have conducted behavioral intervention trials to develop innovative ways to help participants reduce their risk of HIV infection and studies spanning all phases of HIV vaccine research as part of an international effort to find a preventive HIV vaccine.

National studies in which we have participated include the Explore Study, Women Fighting Infection Together (WFIT), and the Vaxgen Study.

We are always looking for people who might be interested in being in a study and for people who might want to volunteer with our organization.
