Touch4Life, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization with the mission of increasing the breast health IQ of Black, Indigenous, and other Women of Color (BIWOC) and underserved communities and eliminating breast health outcomes disparities. Our B-FRESH program is dedicated to delivering nutrition and health education, along with culturally appropriate recipes and fresh produce, to Black metastatic breast cancer patients in the DC, MD metropolitan area.
We believe first-time, late-stage breast cancer diagnosis is preventable. There is clear evidence that women of color need different preventative measures. For our Founder and President Laura Crandon, she needed to be referred to additional screening after a dense breast mammogram, but she wasn’t. So, an aggressive form of cancer had 5 months to grow before she discovered a lump during a self-exam in the shower. Even after neoadjuvant chemo. The tumor was stage 2b.
Our vision is a world where no woman is surprised by breast cancer so late that her options are limited.
