Voices in Harmony
Founded in 1995, Voices in Harmony’s (VIH) mission is to help at-risk youth improve self-esteem, enhance communication and leadership skills, improve inter-cultural understanding, and increase academic engagement and achievement using mentoring and the performing arts. VIH fulfills this mission through two current programs, Voices Theatrical Production and Voices of the Classroom. Both provide teenagers with a productive means of self-expression that helps them to appreciate the power of their own voice, connects them with the surrounding community and encourages them to make positive life choices. We emphasize the importance of life skills such as time management; honoring personal commitments and learning to rely on others; acknowledging and working on areas of weakness; and practicing mutual respect through eye contact and active, supportive listening.
