The Chiapas Project
The Chiapas Project is an intentional community with support throughout the world.
Our aim is to live in voluntary poverty with those around us; to advocate for justice for the poor; be a prophetic, non violent witness against injustice and militarism. We encourage others outside of our small community to help us and work with us, in a nonviolent spirit that is our response to Globalization.
We do not get paid for our work, our work is our life in trying to live as the Gospels have shown us: recognizing our failures, giving food to the hungry, clothes to the naked, building shelters, while seeking forgiveness from those whom we have wronged.
Our work varies from providing temporary shelter and work for migrant workers, supporting women in business and running carpentry workshops for people in rural areas.
The Chiapas Project is based in rural Chiapas, Mexico near San Cristobol de las Casas.
