Servecise=Service+Exercise

Exercising is a great way to keep you healthy, mentally and physically.

However, in most cases, we 'waste' a lot of energy while we exercise.

How about donating your burned calories for the betterment of the community around you? How about gaining the feeling of doing something immensely humane rather than getting constantly disturbed by the guilt feeling of eating limitlessly and then wasting precious bodily energy to nowhere?

Servecise offers you a unique solution. It goes as summarized below:

1. You help your local farming community in its farming activities such as plowing, seeding, fertilizing, reaping, etc. The farmer with whom you will come in contact will help you identify activities that match your interests. Ensure to choose an activity that helps you fulfill your physical exercising needs! Also, make it a point that you learn some new farming skill: you never know when you will use them in the future! Take your kids or grand-kids: let them also experience the smell of the soil!

2. The farming community, in return, promises to donate a portion of its produce to the poor and the needy in the local community. You may want to get a portion for your personal use: the delicious fruits of your toil! Look for farmers who list volunteering opportunities in this site, read their terms and conditions before you accept to help them.

To begin with, a social network has been created in Ning (http://servecise.ning.com): we hope to develop a dedicated, independent, social network in the near future.

Only if a critical minimum number of people join we can begin to seek fundings from major social donors.

So, Farmers and Exercisers, join this group and the social network and share your opportunities or availabilities!!! Also, please help spread this idea among whomsoever you come across. This idea is owned by all of us; so, help to make it better in every possible manner!
