Ushindi Life Outreach Ministries is committed to sharing the love of God by providing Homes and Care of orphans amid the AIDS pandemic in Africa.
Statistics More than 15 million children around the world have lost one or both parents to HIV/AIDS. The AIDS situation in Kenya is not good. According to the Kenya National development plan, 2002-2008, 2.2 million Kenyans are HIV positive. I.5 million in Kenya have already died, leaving behind 1.3 million orphans under the age of 18. With 700 people dying daily of HIV/AIDS related complications, Kenya is producing orphans at an alarming rate.
When parents die, orphans are usually left in the hands of their very poor and elderly grandparents. In most of the cases, orphans will not have enough food to eat, will not have access to education, proper medical care and will usually face physical abuse and neglect. In some circumstances, orphans have had to nurse their sick and dying parents and at the same time take care of their younger siblings. It is common to find out that quite a substantial number of orphans turn out to be HIV positive also. The trauma suffered by these children under such conditions is heart-wrenching. Ushindi Life Outreach Ministries exists to be the voice of these orphans to anyone who cares to hear their story. Through our faithful and committed partners, Ushindi Life Outreach Ministries is taking care of 220 orphans today in two orphanages.
