About Us

Project India International A team of workers of Gandhian development workers and activists with a background of 30 years experience in the field of Rural Development and Education offer a program called ‘Project India’ for International volunteers cum students.

The main objective of this project is to provide an opportunity to serve, learn and grow. A variety of itineraries from north to south and east to west are offered. A group of 10-15 volunteers or students from abroad could come for 3-4 weeks to visit an organization in rural and urban or both areas with an aim to understanding the Indian Social system. These organizations have identified skills useful to them and cases will be taken to match participants accordingly. Apart from this the visiting groups will be provided an ample opportunity to interact with people from all walks of life including development workers, intellectuals, journalists, filmmakers, artisans, farmers and others. Thus they will get an experience of living in different cultures and societies.

An orientation program will be conducted at the beginning of the program to acquaint the participants on the following subjects. Facts about India, Relevance of Gandhi in the contemporary world, Empowerment of weaker sections, social conditions in rural India, Indian development model, Cast system in India, Indian polity and Civil society etc. Visits to social work organizations would be organized. The field visits are designed not only to give an insight into the functioning of the organizations working in the field of rural development and social change but also to give an intimate knowledge of rural areas and rural society. Opportunities for involvement in fieldwork and hands-on experience are provided, as are opportunities for visiting villages and home stays with families in villages.

All physical arrangements like journey reservations, food and accommodation, orientations, local transport, local contacts for home stay, evaluation etc. will be the responsibility of the organizers on moderate charges. A detail itinerary and budget could be drawn by mutual consultation/correspondence.

We intend to bridge the gap between people by encouraging and fostering cross cultural understanding through interaction, education and first hand experience. For further information and inquiries, please get in touch with
