About Us

The Japanese American Service Committee (JASC) is a multi-faceted non-profit 501(c)3 organization that has been serving the community since 1946. It was initially formed to assist the 20,000 - 30,000 persons of Japanese ancestry who were resettling in Chicago after the interment camps of World War II. The JASC is the largest organization of the Japanese American (JA) community in Chicago and serves as its primary center in Illinois, offering social services, innovative art and cultural programs, a legacy center (archives & library) and public events which are open to all.
