Organization History
Glendale is a historically and currently underserved neighborhood on the West Side of Salt Lake City, with large communities of Latinx, African American, Pacific Islander and refugee populations. We are known for our diversity and community pride. We host monthly public meetings in person and via Zoom. We also publish a monthly newsletter and involve many city individuals, municipal departments, non-profits for businesses in our meetings.
We did a survey of residents recently and found that a majority were interested in more arts and community programming. So, for the last three years, in addition to neighborhood and river cleanups and traffic calming efforts, our organization has been very active in ideating, raising money for, and carrying out a variety of arts events and projects - an annual art festival, public murals (including both wall murals and street murals for traffic calming), art signs along the Jordan River Trail, a jazz concert, and Welcome to Glendale banners.
