  • Mission

We are group of volunteer astronomers, both amateur and professional, organized as a non-profit dedicated to providing educational programs about science and astronomy for students, the public, and in support of educators. We do this by building and operating and maintaining the Robert Ferguson Observatory.

The VMOA built and operates the Robert Ferguson Observatory (RFO) at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park near Kenwood. We offer public observing, private group observing, Night Sky classes, Relativity for Non-Scientist classes and telescope making classes for students and the general public. The VMOA is all-volunteer (no paid positions) and operates as part of the Valley of the Moon Natural History Assn. docent program.
