Nature Academy is an independent non-profit organisation of the Back-To-Nature Resorts Group and is located at Haadyao Nature Resort on the coast of the Chao Mai Marine Park of Trang.
Trang is a province located at the west coast of South Thailand's Andaman Sea and its Marine Park is famous for its mystical underwater Emerald Seacave, fantastic colorful corals rich with marine life and white sandy beaches. One of its islands is also the host of the yearly international Underwater Wedding Ceremony event - recorded in the Guinness World Book of Records 2000. The Marine Park is also the home of the near extinct Dugong (sea cows) and serves as a sanctuary for rare birds. Since golf courses and rampant tourism has not yet totally materialized, Trang is being deemed the classic island getaway.
However, today, the overwhelming attraction of the three Ss (sun, sea and sand) is subjecting the Marine Park to the full force of recreation pressures and negative impacts of mass tourism. As the tourism industry's existence relies on these natural attractions to draw in tourists, a proper Environmental Management System was felt to be necessary to ensure a positive balance being maintained between the Marine Park's tourism growth potential and the natural environment. Nature Academy was set up to develop this system for the benefit of the local tourism industry.
