About Us

The James A. Michener Art Museum is an independent, non-profit cultural institution founded in 1987 that nurtures a lifelong involvement in the arts, and serves as a vital cultural and educational resource for residents of Bucks County, the greater Philadelphia and tri-state areas. The Michener highlights American art, with a focus on art from Bucks County, and also presents more than ten changing exhibitions each year on topics ranging from popular culture to scholarly explorations of art historical subjects. Exhibitions are augmented by an array of diverse educational programs and activities; virtual engagement through social media channels; and outreach partnerships at schools and community centers. Each year, the Museum welcomes over 125,000 visitors and serves over 13,000 school children for tours, classes and art camps.
