Permanent Observer Mission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to the United Nations
The OIC is the second largest inter-governmental organization globally after the UN, with 57 Member States and 5 Observer States. The OIC promotes solidarity and cooperation among its Member States in the political, economic, social, scientific, cultural and commercial spheres.
In New York, the OIC’s Observer Mission to the United Nations coordinates the positions of OIC Member States on issues of common concern in the UN General Assembly (UNGA), the UN Security Council (UNSC), the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and other UN bodies. The Mission also promotes dialogue with media and civil society entities in North America on topics of preeminent importance ranging from combating Islamophobia and Terrorism to humanitarian relief initiatives in post-disaster and post-conflict regions to promoting human rights, good governance and the advancement of the rights of women and children.
