Austrian Bilingual Classroom Initiative für Projektarbeit und Sprachkompetenz
ABCi is a nonprofit organization bringing together Austrian students and native-speaking English teachers to form a bilingual learning environment in Austrian schools, promoting linguistic immersion and cultural exchange with a special focus on bringing free English lessons to rural and other overlooked children. You will be teaching English to German-speaking students from the ages of 8 to 15 for an organization headquartered in the Austrian Lake District in Austria, the region made famous by the "Sound of Music" movie. The successful applicant will be given training in the administration of a NGO in the education sector by taking part in project work and program development at ABCi Headquarters.
Bilingual education has become increasingly popular in Austrian secondary schools and ABCi has recently launched a major effort to expand their outreach program. Teaching takes place in different schools during in-school projects and via an online VLE, necessitating travel around Austria.
