Global Partnership for Afghanistan
Based in Kabul, Afghanistan and New York, New York, GPFA works with rural Afghans to create farm businesses that alleviate poverty, build sustainable livelihoods, and renew the environment.
Since 2004, GPFA’s community-based programs have provided thousands of Afghan men and women with the supplies, tools and training they need to revitalize and rebuild the vast network of farmer-owned nurseries, orchard, vineyard, and woodlot enterprises that have long formed the backbone of Afghanistan’s economy.
Operating within six strategic thrusts GPFA pursues activities in horticulture, forestry, water management, women’s empowerment, capacity building at schools and with government officials, and agribusiness. GPFA’s programs have impacted 323,000 men, women, and children in 2,500 villages across 14 provinces. Some 9,300 of our 30,000 farm entrepreneurs are women.
