We Build New York
We Build New York is a non-profit, community based organization founded in the wake of Super Storm Sandy by two individuals who want to help remove barriers standing in the way of a full recovery. We help area residents who need rebuilding their Sandy-damaged homes due to financial hardship. By using volunteers, donated materials, an efficient rebuilding model, and donations from around the country, We Build is able to move families home and help make the community whole again.
Our mission is to deliver hope to those devastated by the storm by helping to rebuild homes. By targeting low-income, uninsured, or underinsured homeowners, We Build delivers the greatest possible impact, as these homeowners would not be able to return to their homes without outside assistance. Many We Build applicants have received FEMA funding, or small insurance payments, but it is simply not enough to complete the projects necessary to bring their families home. We Build bridges the gap, providing the needed materials, manpower, and skills to either finish a job that was already started, or to start from scratch with a complete gut renovation.
