Jewish Vocational Service
Jewish Vocational Service, JVS, transforms lives by helping people build skills and find jobs to achieve self-sufficiency. JVS – founded in 1973 as a non-sectarian, not-for-profit organization, with a current operating budget of $7 million – plays a leadership role in collaborative employment and training efforts throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and in workforce policy development and advocacy at local, state and federal levels. JVS is recognized for partnering closely with employers, government, educational institutions, philanthropic organizations, and community-based organizations to develop programs that match the real-time needs of clients with the hiring needs of regional employers, helping people find, retain and advance in meaningful jobs. In the last year, JVS placed youth and adult clients in close to 1,000 jobs, resulting in aggregate annual wages of under $11 million.
