About Yapo Computer Learning Center
The Yapo Computer Learning Center (Yapo CLC) represents a comprehensive, integrated, full service community, educational and economic development center where the desire to learn and the passion for knowledge is recognized, approached and nurtured one person at a time.
The center was created as a place where children, teens, adults and senior citizens of our community would have access to the resources and technology of the future that may have otherwise been out of their reach.
Yapo Home Work Help Program was launched in October 2, 2000 during the centers grand opening The Yapo center has also been certified as level 3 HUD Neighborhoods Networks Center.
The Yapo Center offers adults' job-training classes, such as computer skills, resume writing, interviewing techniques, Soft skills enhancements. job search services, and coming soon General Educational Development (GED) preparation.
The Yapo Home Work Help program has touched the lives of hundreds of children over the past ten years, Approximately 50 children are currently enrolled in the program in various grades. The program currently offers an exciting array of academic, enrichment, and recreation opportunities for participants, These experiences offer the children glimpses of inspiring possibilities that spark their imagination, build a foundation for new endeavors, and develop future leaders.
The programs helps children in the community gain knowledge, expand their universe outside neighborhood boundaries, provide opportunities to grow and flourish, build and develop trust, and create and fulfill dreams. With this in mind, the program promotes youth development and builds on individual student assets. Teaching to the whole child helps the child form new friendships, develop new interests, and enhance self-esteem. Positive youth development promotes social and emotional growth and greater attachment to school which, in turn, translates into enhanced learning opportunities during the regular school day.
