St. Joseph Worker Volunteer Program
Year long, faith-based volunteer program coming to Los Angeles, August 2013 - applications due March 15,2013
The women of the St. Joseph Worker Program are committed to social change with the intent of changing the world. The four pillars of the Program are:
- Justice- working for justice within diverse communities doing direct service that meets the unmet needs of the marginalized; actively working toward systemic change;
- Leadership- provides opportunities and mentoring for young women to develop strong leadership skills in the work of social and spiritual transformation in the world;
- Spirituality-development and deepening of each Worker's spirituality through retreats, prayer and exploration of spiritual practices with the support and resources of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet;
- Community- develops intentional community with others in the Program with a focus on living simply and sustainably; building just relationships with others and the earth.
Requirements: Women ages 21-30 who have a heart for justice, a sense of humor and perspective, an open mind, a flexible spirit and an eagerness for a year of growth with all its rewards.
