Ansche Chesed Homeless Shelter

The Ansche Chesed Shelter is a homeless shelter located on the Upper West Side (100th St. and West End Ave).

The shelter operates 365 days a year, hosting about 10 men each night in a safe and comfortable environment. This shelter helps such men get out of homelessness by providing an environment where they can sleep comfortably at night and be ready to go to work the next day (most of them currently have jobs and are working to get out of homelessness). The shelter runs completely based on its volunteers.

There are two volunteer shifts every night. The opening shift (7-9 pm) volunteer greets the men who sleep at the shelter and to help set things up. Overnight volunteers (9 pm-6 am) are also needed to sleep over in a separate room in the shelter and to get the shelter guests started in the morning.
